Renée DiResta serves as the technical research manager for the Stanford Internet Observatory, a cross-disciplinary program of research, education, and policy engagement for the study of abuse in information technologies. She studies how actors leverage the information ecosystem to exert influence, from domestic activists to operations run by foreign governments. Notably, Renée led an investigation into the Russian Internet Research Agency’s effort to manipulate American society, and provided testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee. She led a further investigation into the GRU’s hack-and-leak operations during the 2016 election.
